Mini-monument to Prince Laborts was installed on may 7, 2016 on ants The Uzhgorod fortress. This monument was sponsored by the Director of Yazaki LLC Ukraine“Milos Bosak. The bronze figure of Laborets was stolen in the summer of 2018. Therefore, the authors of the mini-sculpture Mikhail Kolodko and Vasily Krivanich moved it closer to the entrance to the castle and firmly fixed it in a new place (GPS: 48.621081, 22.305645).

Laborets is considered the Creator of Uzhhorod castle and the founder of the city itself Uzhgorod.He was a Prince of a Slavic tribe white Croats. The name of this Prince is first mentioned in the chronicle of the Anonymous “Deeds of the Ugrians”(“Gesta Hungarorum”). Historians still debate whether there really was a Prince laborets in the IX century, he was a legendary figure. However, most of them are of the opinion that such a Prince really existed

The bronze monument to Prince Laborcu is made in the form of a figure twisted with a bronze cord, which was attached to a metal sword in the form of its handle. This symbolism in the image of Laborets is a reminder of the circumstances of his tragic death. After the attack Hungarian on Uzhhorod castle laborets tried to escape. Another detachment of Hungarian cavalry caught up with the Prince. The settlement was captured and immediately executed. He was tied up and drowned in the Ondava river, which is now called laborets and flows through the territory Slovakia.

There are many literary works dedicated to the tragic and heroic the fate of Prince Laborz. Wrote about him Bohuslav Nosak of Nezabudok, Anatoly Kralicky, Eugene Fencik, Mariyka Pidhiryanka, Basil Grange-don and Peter Gulyarenko.

The original legend of the mini-sculpture of Laborz tells in his book “Uzhgorod – the world capital of mini-sculptures” Nadezhda Popadyuk. According to legend a bronze mini-sculpture of Prince Laborz in the shape of a sword was found during construction new stone fortifications on Castle hill and installed on the Central defensive the wall as a symbol of the defense of Uzhgorod castle. They say this sword still gives strength to all, who will touch it.
