In ancient times, famous ancient opponents of the Roman Empire lived in Transcarpathia \u2013 the tribes of the Celts<\/a>. Celts lived in these places for a long period of time 3 to 1 century BC in those times about mountain<\/a> Galish and Lovachka Transcarpathian Celts founded a large settlement. At that time it was the largest on the territory of modern Russia Ukraine<\/a>. Most of the inhabitants of the settlement were artisans. This is confirmed by the large number of iron tools that archaeologists found at the site of the settlement. The settlement disappeared in a moment. Apparently, the inhabitants of this settlement were killed as a result of an enemy attack. On the slopes of the Galish and Lovachka mountains, man-made monuments have been preserved to this day caves<\/a>, where the Celts lived.<\/p>\n\n

At the foot of the mountains is a famous ethno-HOMESTEAD<\/a> “Celtic court\u00bb.Here you can try ale, honey beer, sbiten and extremely delicious Celtic dishes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The mini-sculpture “Celt” was installed in Mukachevo<\/a> March 17, 2015. Its author is Mikhail Kolodko. The mini-sculpture became a gift to mukachevtsy from Uzhgorod<\/a>. It became the first mini-sculpture in Mukachevo. The opening ceremony of the sculpture was held solemnly. At the end of the monument fortunately poured beer. Despite observing all traditions and prejudices a few days later on March 22 2015 the sculpture was stolen! But for the evil of the hijackers, the little Celt was made and installed “dead”, so that thieves could not steal the mini-masterpiece again.<\/p>\n

Mini-sculpture “Celt” is located on the railing \nmukachevskaya embankment, against its background you can see the mountain Lovachka (GPS: 48.44376373 22.71705627).<\/p>\n\n

The figure of the monument is similar to the famous characters Asterix and Obelix. Mukachevo their “friend” in the hands holding a Celtic sword. By the way, the original prototype of the Celtic sword is now stored in the historical Museum Mukachevsky castle<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The Celt who settled in Mukachevo is a blacksmith, because the craft of forging<\/a> no changes came from these settlers to us.<\/p>\n\n

Transcarpathians still use the inventions of the Celts. For example, \nthe well-known bathing in vats is a Celtic bath, and it is their invention.<\/p>\n\n

Celtic influence was also preserved in speech. So Transcarpathians jam \ncall lekvarom, but few know that the word “lekvar” in Celtic means \njam.<\/p>\n
