This mini-sculpture is an imitation of a railing that is tied in a knot. Mikhail Kolodko decided to perpetuate the memory of Transcarpathian strongman, athlete and boxer Ivan Firtsak (Croton) also known as Ivan Sila. In 1928 he received the title of the Strongest man on the planet. Farrier<\/a> Vasily Krivanich performed on this sculpture.<\/p>\n\n

The node is located on the Kievskaya embankment in Uzhgorod<\/a>.If you stand with your back to the Uzh river<\/a>, you need to turn right from the pedestrian bridge and pass a little (GPS: 48.621492, 22.297193).<\/p>\n\n

The sculpture appeared in 2014 to support the film \n“Ivan Sila”, released in the same year. In the future the author of this \ncreation plans to install a full-fledged figure of Ivan.<\/p>\n\n

Ivan Firtsak was born on July 28 1899 in the village of Belki Irshavsky district<\/a> Transcarpathian region, had incredible physical strength. In 1919, as a 20-year-old boy, Ivan went to work in Prague, where he worked as a simple loader at the railway station. He could only work out his daily quota in half a day. Subsequently, he began to successfully participate in fighting tournaments and weightlifting competitions. He became the Czechoslovak champion in weightlifting and hand-to-hand combat. Later, Firtsak began performing in the Prague circus and became Ivan Sila, a star performer. He could break iron chains, juggle heavy objects deftly, pull trucks with his teeth, and beat bulls at bullfights in Spain with his bare hands. For the first time in the United States, he performed a number during which a car ran over his throat with its wheels. For this number, he probably later received a gift of a Ford car. For his achievements, the world community has visited Firtsaka named after the ancient hero Croton, a companion of Hercules, who founded the city of the same name, where the greatest athletes of Ancient Greece lived.<\/p>\n\n

Later, at the invitation of the British Queen of Fircak took \nparticipated in a fight and defeated Boxing champion John Jackson.<\/p>\n\n

In the 1930s, the athlete returned to his homeland. After the establishment of the Soviet regime, all his awards were confiscated, and his son was in the camps for a falsified case of involvement in the OUN. And this did not stop Ivan Sila. Ivan Firtsak became the founder of the Transcarpathian circus school and the school of power arts, and raised many weightlifting Champions. An interesting legend about this mini-sculpture is told in the \nin the book “Uzhgorod \u2013 the world capital of mini-sculptures” Nadezhda Popadyuk. According to it, \nwhen the local government tried to confiscate the gift from Firtsak in 1939 \nit’s a Ford, and he smashed it to pieces with a sledgehammer in protest. For this he was abandoned \nprisons in Uzhgorod and severely beaten. When he got out of prison, he was so \nI was angry that I tied the railing on the embankment of the river Uzh (modern knot \nCroton’s).<\/p>\n
