Count Nandor Ploteni was one of the most outstanding violinists of the 19th century. In 1896, Ferdinand Ploteni and his large family moved to a newly built house in the village of Velyki Lazy, which is a real masterpiece of palace architecture. It was built using the neoclassical architectural style. In addition, the palace was surrounded by a wonderful English park in the very center of the village. Ferenc Liszt, Johann Brahms and Eduard Remeny visited him at different times. It was Remeny who taught the young count to play the violin and they even performed together in concerts around Europe. Today, Ploteni Palace, as Count Nandor dreamed, is a temple of art and creativity, because it houses the Uzhgorod District Center for Children’s Creativity.
