Istvan Loudon’s mini-sculpture with a magnolia in his hands settled on the fence of the square of the Uzhgorod City Children’s Clinical Hospital, where his arboretum used to be. It happened on May 4, 2018. This mini-masterpiece made of bronze was opened by its author Mykhailo Kolodko and the mayor of Uzhgorod Bohdan Andriyev. István Loudon is not accidentally associated with magnolia. It was he who brought this incredible flower, whose beauty can be compared to cherry blossoms, to Uzhgorod. Istvan Loudon (1862-1924) is a famous teacher, naturalist, doctor of Uzhgorod Royal Catholic Gymnasium.

He was a philologist by education, but he was very fond of natural science. Loudon traveled a lot.
